Bye Bye week 9

Yay week nine's finally over. It was just like week 3, where deadlines and tests were all crammed together. 9 and 3 have been the worst two weeks of my sec 3 life. I had 3 CCTs, a long-overdue physics report and ERP.

We went to NTU on Tuesday for some NTU immersion thing and learnt about, erm… waste? Wasn’t the most interesting lesson but anyway, I had a hell of a time going home. Firstly, Welras and I were the only RI people who went to the top level of the double-decker bus, and we ended up stranded at the back of that level, with girls surrounding us on all sides. To me, the worst place to end up in, other than in the swimming pool, is in the middle of a bunch of screaming, excitable girls. We had stoically endured the squeals (excuse the word, omg no offense to girls) of “qiao ke li, qiao ke li” and “so cute” and etc… Aiya, sian, have had too little of exposure to groups of girls, of course daily exposure to two sisters’ quarrelling is a different story. NTU is really some ulu, u-loo, uluh? place, I have to say I hate Boon Lay. Oh and later some hot girl walked past me and i breathed in a bit deeper and was greeted by an acrid stench of smoke and bad breathe. Jacked...

Building on my previous post, I have to say I have a sixth-sense for trouble that does me no help. During Chinese lesson, I talked to wzy in English, very loud, and something told me to look straight at NY, which I did. And I realized she was staring at me, and I stared back and waited, stopping right in the middle of my sentence. And got scolded. Ok, last year, I was bending my head, reading my Chinese textbook, on the steps of the Astroturf, when something told me to look up, which I did. And the next thing I knew a Manfred-powered, 200km/h ball smacked right into my face. And I nearly died. Erm, few weeks ago, Manfred, again, was attempting to dribble me, and by some weird quirk, I moved my head to the right, just as he flicked the ball up. Ouch. Ok, a lot about Manfred right, that’s cause nearly every time I play soccer with him I get injured by him. My point is I think I’m born to look for trouble.

Yesterday I did my ERP. Actually I turned on the computer and the next thing I knew, I was opening my eyes in a really dark place and wondering whether it was morning and why people were talking about food (was it breakfast?). It’s like the last time I got knocked out, I was totally disorientated and wondering where I was. Finally realized that I had fallen asleep, miraculously on a bed, had two hours left to send Mrs Nathan my ERP. That’s how tiring week 9 was.

Ok teachers' day next week, last year Mr Eddie Chua's form class gave him G-strings, what should we give this year, pointy shoes???

NB: I give up watching soccer. My 19-year-old sister's whining is louder and more shrill than a bus full of girls. I will go mad if i listen to more than ten minutes of whining.

Life rocks

Emoing is stupid:
Firstly, emo comprises way too many emotions, so its a stupid generic word
Secondly, emo comprises self-pity, which is good for a while but wastes a lot of time and energy in the long-run.
Thirdly, emo is used so lightly that it isnt taken that seriously.

Sorry if i emoed some of my previous posts, but those posts were to get some things off my chest. Some things make me so frustrated and pissed that they invariably deepen my cynism and pessimism, so i wont blog about these stuff, therefore I wont blog about today.

Since I'm in a filthy mood, sore everywhere, and have a headache, I think i shall be xing zhai le huo and laugh about the 3000m steeplechase heats i just watched. Yay, the women fell over one another in the water jump. Feels good to know that i'm not the only person who hates water to the core and gets owned by water. But i was amazed by their mental strength, the last 100m was really great to watch, reminded me about how hong en owned me that stretch though, even with a cut knee or something. Shit, why i give up mental skills for athlectic training as DMP?????

Anyway, how do you choose singers? I sent a song by rainie yang to ewan and he transferred it halfway before cancelling the transfer and saying he didnt want it because:

I read her Wiki article... hmm

In 2003, Yang mistook the eight-year Second Sino-Japanese War as having been eleven years in length during a television program. After learning the actual length of the war, she responded with "Only eight years?" This response generated anger in mainland China, leading to the boycotting of Hunan Satellite Television's airing of Devil Beside You, in which she acted. Upon learning of the widespread boycott, Hunan TV replaced the show's airtime with Green Forest, My Home.[2]

Disgusting
Haiz... they are just so insensitive

I should read up backgrounds of singers before listening to their songs next time.

Finally,
I am a true magnet. A magnet, sadly, for balls and disaster, and not for girls or whatever. I couldn't help laughing today. I think manfred and wendy have damn good aiming skills though i wish they could aim at other things and break aloy's fingers or something.

A boring post

Played tennis with ewan on friday. Can read more at meiozo.blogspot.com. Most of the facts are correct except i think my hits didnt even have any trajectory. Lol. Anyway ewan got really pissed off with the girls playing rugby and screaming around on the field, said high-pitch voices were really irritating and disgusting in a typical ewan-disapproving-way. I agree with him to some extent.

BTW no girl visits this blog.

Had chinese test on thursday, first time i ran up and down five stories just to get my bag, ended up sweating the first twenty minutes of the test and screwing it up. I dreamt, ok not the Martin Luther King sort of dream, but a real random wandering dream, for the next ten minutes during the test, according to ewan. Aiya dont talk about chinese, have to do my file and the many blank worksheets, not helped by niu yi drawing question marks all over my worksheets. Our teachers are workaholics, esp KSP...

Should be great week for RLP people but i feel like adding some comments about boarding based on what i heard. Its great but it sounds like a jail in some ways.

Firstly, have to mug from 7:30 - 9:30. If i were there i would be aceing my exams

Secondly, card only give access to certain floors and your own block.

Thirdly, the room is small

Fourthly, the painting is minimalist.

Fifthly, the internet got some problems in some rooms.

Of course you cant play fifa, properly. Sian, i miss owning shaun.

A tribute to ish
On a side note, I feel that im perpetually in danger at school. Ish is in the urinals, ish is in the classroom, ish is in the gym, ish is (the pain) in my ass, ich is going to kill ish. If you ever room/sleep with ish, you eyes would never close, like a fish...

Another weekend gone...

Bloody lousy weekend. Couldnt even watch my soccer in peace cos my sister was screaming at me to change channel so she could watch china get owned by Kobe and gang. Anyway somehow portsmouth suks at taking penalty, dunno what the f they were doing, probably bribed or something. James was awesome though. I have to say that Man Untd seriously suked, with the exception of nani (at times) and tevez. Couldnt sleep though, spent five hours in bed dreaming about diarra and conjugate bases before deciding that stoning around was a waste of time and driving me mad, so i got out of bed at 5:30 and mugged. Sleep suks, unconsciousness suks, doing nothing suks. If only we didnt have to sleep, now i feel so drugged.

National Day and Olympics

This year's national day symbolized hmmmm… DEADLINES, TESTS, ETC for me.

School celebration was quite ok, I think there were only a few original programmes.

Teachers dressing up—actually quite lame and not so original after the CNY’s one, XD’s performance and the Vietnamese’s exchange students’ dance. I thought the Vietnamese were great, being game enough to perform in front of so many people in an unfamiliar setting and the three of them were really well-synchronized. Anyway I think we rarely see beautiful girls around our own age, much less from another culture, put up such an elegant dance, so it was one of the items that more than kept my eyes open.

Next was dressing up teachers, quite lame lah, I think the organizers were banking on the success of the CNY catwalk or something like that, this one was good, but still paled in comparison to the previous teacher catwalk. A big factor in the way it was enthusiastically received by us was probably the popularity, or in some cases, maybe one case, notori***, of the teachers. The event itself wasn’t that interesting.

Then there was the XD performance, that one really cannot sleep through. The lead singer wasn’t that great but the drummer was really animated and looked quite comical at times, so I was captivated by him most of the time.

When the celebrations finally ended, I was in no mood to take a test, and “the great escapade” kept playing in my head when I was taking the physics quiz, literally and metaphorically, so I failed, or barely passed.

After the test, I was supposed to go back to Cat High to visit my former teachers, but I was one of the unlucky few, I mean FEW, who were chosen to submit their files for a the Chinese HOD to check, so I had to keep the rest waiting while I filed and by the time we got to Cat High at around 12, the teachers had already zhao, so I felt quite guilty. We played some soccer with the Cat High guys and somehow failed to win them, I swear our luck turned when Manfred scored the own goal. We were leading by 5-1 and after that own goal by Manfred, who probably decided a hat-trick wasn’t enough, we only managed a measly draw.

Then we went to Jian Wei’s house. OH yeah, before that. I just remembered about Aloy. Here’s what he said at cat high, at least what I recall from memory.
1. “I bet my life that when we take the bus home, some female will sit beside me. Always like that one. I have never seen a man sit beside me before, at least when I’m not sleeping”
2. “Hurdles should be made higher so when girls wear skirts and jump over, can see upskirt.” (of course aloy not really so sick, he said it jokingly)
So anyway, no girl sat beside aloy, as expected, since he stinks like mad after playing sports, as Ernest’s father aptly pointed out (sry aloy).

So played some tennis, whacked only two balls out, not really my fault though, I didn’t use so much strength, its just some people whack the ball straight at me and according to Newton Third’s law, the ball would INEVITABLY fly over the fence. Found out that I could play some really good tennis with aloy, but definitely NOT fifa 07 or 08 or … Sadly, I missed the BBQ my family had with the staff at the company my father works for but even more regretfully, I missed the Chinese Olympics Opening ceremony. Everyone’s talking about it and im clueless, I feel so sad to miss the encapsulation of thousands of years of Chinese culture, especially after spending hours working on my Beijing Olympic project.

Here’s the extract of an msn convo with Ewan:
says:
was it good
('.') ew&n # : we live to last says:
It was ultra nice
says:
how long was it
('.') ew&n # : we live to last says:
Don't know... slept halfway

One thing I know for sure: the NDP live telecast felt very stale to me, esp one day after the revealed grandeur of the Olympics opening ceremony. Plus i felt so gloomy today cos of the stupid rain and the fact that i woke up at 1pm (had to do my chinese project until two plus yesterday).

Haiz, Beijing Olympics, so grand and significant, but so far away. Four years ago, I actually watched most of the events, don’t feel any sense of déjà vu this year though, since most of the events clash with school deadlines, the CCT period, the start of the EPL and especially, most significantly, most dear to me, the COMMUNITY SHIELD.

Go Pompey!!

A boy called Aloy

Today aloy, ernest and I went home on the same bus. On the way to J8, aloy was boasting about how he attracted chio girls to sit beside him on buses…

At the bus stop in the interchange, aloy didn’t climb over the chain like Ernest and I did because he wanted to follow (stalk lol?) a chio girl. Unfortunately, a friend of that chio girl spotted her and immediately went over to sit beside her on the railing. Then an old women cut in front of aloy so aloy ended up standing beside that old women. Laugh, stitch, stitch…

On the bus, Ernest and I sat together and watched the empty seat beside aloy expectantly. Some nerdy girl sat beside him, aloy seemed happy.

Later, we neared our bus-stop and found out aloy was sleeping. Waved good-bye to the stoning aloy and went out. Watched the nerdy girl quickly leaving him to occupy our recently-vacated seat. Laughed. Then some old man decided to sit beside him. Laughed even harder.

What happened to aloy’s charm…

Emo's World

Emo’s world
What a Beautiful Day…

Period 2:
Barely passed Chem CCT, expected though, since I forgot all the precipitate colours and solubility cos of lack of REM sleep. So I wasn’t so disappointed. Mood HP: 9/10

Period recess:
Went to check CLE notice board to see whether I was selected as PSL. Saw Manfred walk towards me in his usual nonchalant way, asked him what he was doing there, heard him say “you’re not”, and my heart sank. Didn’t feel like walking to the board anymore but wzy was walking on so I just followed, stopped, stared blankly at the stupid colourful board, and felt empty. Sian, I wanted to be a PSL so badly, to advise younger people against making same mistakes as me, to make a difference in other people’s life, including pumping people. To rub this disappointment in, I had to bump into Ye Lin in the canteen, argh… Now have to appeal. Mood HP: 5/10

Period 4:
Yay, English. Mrs Nathan told us to space out cause she was crammed into one corner, I didn’t need to since I was already mentally spaced out. (OK, fine I reused her pun). Actually I like reusing her puns, like during Oral Presentation, just that she didn’t notice it cos I spoke so badly. Mood HP: 5/10

Period 5:
I shall use AO cos I forgot how to spell my philo teacher’s name. Today was really slow-moving, because he gave up on our class once again. The computer wasn’t working and he didn’t know what to do and only 6/32 people did his homework. I didn’t bring my worksheet so I went in front to stone and let my friends draw on my arm. (OMG I hope no teacher every reads this). The periodic table was 5% finished on my left arm and my right arm was nearly perfectly and realistically designed with emo symbols which the creative 3H people randomly came up with when AO noticed what was happening and got so pissed off that he blackmarked me on his list. Lol, I don’t think he has called my parents yet, I don’t really care about that but I’m more worried about blackmarks. nvm lah, not so serious. I was quite pissed because we had already finished our work and AO wasn’t doing anything without his computer and we weren’t intentionally defiant towards him so I thought what he did was a bit extreme. Of course we were being silly but I think he overreacts sometimes, anyway I felt worse. Oh yeah, we wanted tamper with the alarm system but it didn’t work.
Mood HP: 3/10

Period 6:
Chinese. Screwed up. I’m not sure what happened, I was kinda in a daze, PSL, Philo, Chem and every other misery. According to Darren, NY “scold, marks, scold, marks, scold, teach, scold”, marks being telling us our marks. Anyway, NY was really disappointed with our marks and people like You Yong Ren and Zhao Lin wanted their marks so badly, so she scolded us, talked about how we should pay more attention in class or something like that. Then she read out the marks of those people who wanted their marks, actually that was the majority, since only 4 people, including me, didn’t want their marks. Felt sad for Aaron, he summarised the wrong paragraph, she stopped reading out marks to scold us some more. Anyway most of what she said went in and out of my ears except one particular part where she said something like 我最讨厌的人是那些在课上 不听课,打扰别人,回家却自己something something 摸黑读书的人,因为他们影响到那些要认真读书的人,自己又考到很好的成绩。。。,所以他们是虚伪的。Aiya something like that lah,精髓所在。 That hurt, because anyone in my class would say that the person she was probably referring to was either You Yong Ren (aka Yong jin), Zhao Lin, or yours truly, and since the first two people are official muggers while some people think I actually mug Chinese at home, I think she was really pissed with me, even though that impression would be so totally incorrect. I was left with a heavy heart, some guilt, some pissed-offed-ness, because I think even though our class is a mugger class (at least most of us), I think she was wrong to think that or to accuse us of being so Jian, so Bei Bi. I hate ambiguity, also during Hockey matches, when our coach says, “One or two people in this team are killing their teammates, one or two people are … etc, etc.” Want scold people just scold straight to their face lah, why scold indirectly. This kind of ambiguity make people think in circles. This is part one of why I feel “暧昧让人受尽委屈”. Mood HP: 0/10

Ok, so I spaced-out for sometime, she started the lesson proper, then I heard my name, and it was something like “Jia Huang does well consistently for his exams, this time get 50+, 可是这次伟聪做得不好,可能是因为他不认识一些词语。”I dunno how come she said this, I don’t even know what she was saying before it, but anyway I was pissed, PISSED, SAD. I guessed I didn’t do well, purposely say I don’t want to know my marks, choose ignorance as bliss instead, then she had to tell me I didn’t do well and make me wallow in ambiguity again. Ok, déjà vu, certain Cat High people would remember Ms Rita pulling me aside from everyone else in J8 (we were there to enjoy post-PSLE) and telling me to be not disappointed about my marks and basically she tried to warn me and prepare me or something like that, but I’m the type of person whom such things don’t work, so I ended up thinking about my results, regretting and emoing the next few days. Therefore, ignorance is bliss and ambiguity 让人受尽委屈. Yeah, listen to the song, its on my tracklist, even if theme is irrelevant.

Aiya, at least I earned 2 bucks from wzy, won the bet and ewan now owes me his house!

Later, Russell tried trick NY with the unsynchronized clock but failed, got jacked badly, I think NY handled it better than AO, lol.

Xiu Zhen's bag is wonderful, its soft and cuddly and more soothing than a pillow. I hugged it and drooled on it in depression before going to NUS.

Mood HP: -5/10

After School:
Went NUS for some lecture, sat on the floor cos LT was full and couldn’t concentrate, turned out to be more of prize presentation instead of lecture. What a disappointment. At least the food was great, yummy! Mood: 0/10

It’s a beautiful start to a great week!

Tornado Temper

yay, we beat tornados. Last year got trahsed 4-2, this year win 2-0! But they were really scary, the first few minutes some 100kg ++, caucasian guy was pushing me with his stick, wheeling his arms all around, barging into me and feverishly, manically saying "you think you mark me, you think you can..., I will show you..." repeatedly, I couldn't help but think he was mental. He really pissed me off, and scared me too, in fact he's like the most crazily aggressive testosterone-charged guy I have ever encountered. Uncontrolled anger is seroiusly scary, I thought i was going to be bashed up. Luckily the referee scolded him and cooled his temper.

Enough about scary people, I shall talk about other things, wait..., rifqi was scary, he somehow scored from a ten-degree angle, wtf... and Jaspal also scored a sublime deflection from a Micah sweep. Dunno what the goalie was doing, he like taller than the goal post.

Great game though, for once coach praised us. Lol.

Balancing act

It's been another week full of crap for me, but at least I managed some fun too.

ORA parent meeting
One word to sum it up: Terrible. Oh sure it was going alright until some parent asked some question and coach decided to use me as an example, again...He looked around and asked "Where's Ewan and Wai Choong". Unfortunately, oops maybe fortunately, Ewan was enjoying his sojourn on his cruise while I was stranded at the back row of the LT, feeling terribly hemmed in and claustrophobic. Anyway, coach started off saying that I was a beginner but have been "playing some great hockey" lately, waited for people to clap, and then started denouncing me for having lousy hand-eye coordination, and of course, inevitably, being a toilet bowl. OMFG, how come I can't get rid of this stupid tag my whole life?? I mean WC = water closet, as some people have pointed out over the years... As the everyone in the LT trained their eyes on me, I felt like sinking down and hiding behind Gifford, who was unfortunately not tall enough to aid me in my quest for obscurity.

Actually, such an experience isn't new, since I went through the same thing during the B Division team talk. It's quite funny, Coach always starts off praising me and then realizes how lousy I am and can't help but start pointing negative points about me, so in the end it's actually an expression of disgust...

I ended up feeling bad, so i decided to go for Drama Feste.

Drama Feste (Friday and Saturday)
Drama Feste is an event that shouldn’t be missed, seriously. Having watched last year’s and this year’s plays, I think RI’s plays are comparable to, or even surpass many plays done by professionals (oops might be a biased view).

Here’s a caveat before I comment on the plays: I’m not a lit student so most of the stuff below is probably crap.

Ok so this is what I feel:

Moore’s play was emo, poignant and, to some people, too painful to watch. (How come Micheal so emo, go write a tragedy like that). However, I think the storyline was a bit clichéd and totally devoid of levity (too much emo, cannot tahan), so I didn’t really enjoy it. I was feeling a bit guilty while watching the play though, I won’t say why, but it affected my mood. Even though the storyline wasn’t that original, I think the actors were great, especially Shan Zi, whose make-up and acting make him look convincingly old and haggard. Oh, and his shouting was scary…

Morrison’s play was play about a person who gets cursed by a glass necklace and has to turn three people into stone through his dancing in order to break the curse (erm koped from alvin’s blog, sry). Jing’s dance was excellent, energetic at times, emanating of darkness at other times, I think it complemented the storyline well, but the storyline was a bit absurd at certain parts… I liked it better than Moore’s, but they didn’t win anything in the end, sad…

Bayley’s play was ok, but I still can’t get over the fact that they drew with Hullett. Ok, both were about mental children, but I think Bayley’s play was a bit too silly and frivolous, and at times it seemed to mock retarded children. For eg, some guy stuffed a condom into his retarded little brother, yeah little brother—another slapstick joke, which Bayley passed off as humour. Hullett’s play was also mental children, however, there was more profundity, meaning and sympathy towards those children, especially the title (1 + 1 + 1 = 0) and the conclusion, where the children realized their insignificance and invisibility, which added a note of poignant sadness to the humour in the play, and evoked sympathy for the children from the audience. I think that sort of emo with some levity far surpassed Micheal’s extreme emo… Hullett’s actors were also IMBA, which anyone can infer from the fact that Hullett swept up 5 out of 7 awards. But I’m still a bit rankled that Hullett didn’t win overall best play award outright, but had to tie with Bayley.

Shien Hien and Zachary acted in Buckley’s play. I think both were great, especially Shien Hien with his extravagant gestures. Took a while for me to recognized Zachary, he looked so different… I think Buckley’s had excellent animated individual actors, but I don’t feel that the plot knitted together well.

Anyway the short if it is I felt much better after watching the first three houses’ plays even though I reached home and ate my dinner at 11.

Game against CSC

CSC is seriously crazy. They played as if they hated us to the core and wanted to smash us up. Maybe it’s because Micah accidentally swept some greyhead’s head but I was still pissed off with them. Firstly, someone chopped my hand, then I got hit on the thigh (bruise still there), then some guy slid into my groin, and finally the guy who got hit on the head whacked my foot instead of the ball. And I played out of position as a left half because zaki wasn’t there, and rather unconvincingly too. What a lousy day…

Chinese CCT (Monday)
To summarize it, I failed. I officially betted with wzy that ill get below 40/60. To make the day worse, our C div got eliminated, which makes it two years in a row that we haven’t entered the semi-finals. Once again I felt utterly depressed, so I went to watch the Brazil vs Singapore Selection game.

Soccer game
I think I wasted 15 bucks. Shaun, Royston and I were actually silly enough to queue for food at KFC for more than half an hour, so by the time we got back to the stadium, we were consigned to the seats right at the top of the stadium. I felt like I was playing Football Manager, watching the yellow and red dots moving about on a sits. Actually, FM with sound effects, you could hear Hassan Sunny shouting Baik (is this how u spell it?) to his defenders. Anyway I was quite impressed with Singapore, I think Mohammed Ridhuan totally owned Marcelo, outsprinted, out- dribbled, out-whatever, inside-out. On the other side, Fazrul Nawaz eluded Rafinha too. Go Singapore!! FM should scout Singapore again and revise the player ratings.

English CCT (Thursday)
Fail, again. I hate summaries; I never ever finish writing them. Once again I was short of words. Also failed chem CCT, mixed up all the salts and solubility and whatever, totally flunked a six mark question in the 30-mark paper. Nearly forgot what salts were green and yellow too. Falling into depression once again, I decided to visit Tan Tock Seng Hospital. OMG, the place has totally changed, since the last time I went there, which was about 6 years ago. Everything around novena looks new and metropolitan, even the underpass to Tan Tock Seng Hospital was tiled walls. Actually I went there first so that I could find National Skin Center, gave me a sense of déjà vu, the last time I went there was with Chin Jie, like eons ago, accompanying him to his nitrogen-whatever treatment. And I went there today for consultation on the same problem. Eh, actually that’s only on the surface, I went there so that I could get cheap cream for my sister…

I have one compliment about NSC, they have some really sexy nurses and doctors, well some. After getting out of NSC, something really hilarious happened. I was walking behind an old man, and just before I overtook him, he spat right in front of me and I nearly walked onto the spittle. Could you imagine how flustered that poor old guy was? I smiled at him and walked on…

Friday
I had a bad week, but I finally managed to play soccer. That’s quite something, considering the last time I played was maybe end of May or start of June. So its been 2 + months.

Today
I trashed Gifford 3-0 in fifa. 9-men Suwon Bluewings owned a 11-men LA Galaxy. YES!

What can i say? The last week HAS been a balancing act.
